Jake - Lighting build

Lighting Contribution

Base level

As you can see, there was no lighting, post process, light mass volume etc or BP_Sphere within the start of the level. All lighting was built by myself from scratch. The lighting build was forever changing within the level and only took hold when I began to construct the level and design itself with the co-help of zero.

One of the main problems here was the fact that we had 3 main windows in which all 3 required strong directional light from the moon from 3 different directions. In turn this made the decision to rebuild the level much more prominent than before.

Where does the light source come from? As a com-positional shot this doesn't work either.

LIGHTING POST PROJECT

Although not 100% complete, the overall lighting here represents the change throughout the level. By using warmer colours for the main hall, I then contrasted these with the cooler and more mysterious colours of the study. Each room has a sense of feeling, and purpose compared to before, the actual house colours slowly change and represent the tone at each point.

Also learning and realising how light maps and resolution play a big part within the lighting process as well was another big step. One in which I helped many other groups who had no idea that they existed or how to create more realistic lighting.

THANKS TO HAZ - the lighting master for the advice throughout.
